Assassin's Creed Introduces Bizarre Attack on Titan Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a surprising crossover event that defies traditional predictions, the game developer has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Revealed
According to the formal release, "A strange meeting pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where hints of prohibited rituals and fearsome metamorphoses echo through the obscurity." The plot features a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a clandestine cult.
The questline centers on "peculiar tests and a monstrous adversary" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Settings and Metamorphoses
The trailer highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview concludes with a striking sequence showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Bonus Features
Players who accomplish the quest will receive an unique katana together with multiple artifacts secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Update
This patch also adds the game's third free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive techniques: Naoe introduces a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime franchises. The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
